Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 2 Chicken Thighs Skinless and Boneless (about 200g)
  • 2 Green Onions scallions, cut into 1inch pieces
  • Bamboo skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes

For the Yakitori Sauce (Tare)

  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 1 tbsp Sake (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp Garlic Grated
  • 1 tsp Ginger Grated

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chicken

  • Cut chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  • Thread chicken pieces and green onion alternately onto soaked skewers.

Make the Sauce

  • Combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, garlic, and ginger in a small saucepan.
  • Simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring until slightly thickened. Set aside.

Cook the Skewers

  • Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium heat.
  • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, brushing generously with the yakitori sauce.
  • Grill until chicken is fully cooked and has a slight char.

Serve

  • Drizzle any leftover sauce over the skewers before serving.
  • Pair with steamed rice or a light salad for a balanced meal.
